How to send, track, and understand the status of your InPost shipment

Mar 10, 2026

Sending a parcel with InPost is very simple, but questions may still arise: how do you send a parcel and how do you track it? What does each status mean, and what should you do if the parcel is not moving as expected? This guide provides, step by step, the information on what to do in each case.

  1. Create a shipment: Go to the “Parcel Shipment“ page, fill in the sender and recipient details and choose the delivery method; review the summary carefully before confirming payment.
  2. Shipment statuses: Tracking information will change as the parcel makes its way through the process, passing through statuses such as “Collected by InPost”, “In transit”, “Arrived at the local distribution center”, “Available in the locker or pickup point”, “Final notification”, “Accepted at the branch” or “Delivered”.
  3. Shipment tracking: You can see the location of your parcel via the tracking page on our website, or directly in the app, if the shipment is linked.
  4. Delivery times: Delivery times depend on the destination (domestic or international) and the service type. The average delivery time is 3 business days from the moment the parcel enters the InPost network for domestic deliveries and 3 to 6 business days for international deliveries, depending on the destination.
  5. Other issues: If the parcel is held, tracking information is not updated, you receive an indication that the parcel has been delivered when it has not, or you receive an error message, fill out our form explaining the situation.

Before you begin, you should pack the parcel contents properly to ensure they are well protected, and have the recipient’s information at hand. Filling in all the required information correctly is important so that everything goes smoothly.

  1. Prepare the parcel: Use a sturdy package and make sure it is properly closed. If there is any free space inside, use filler material to prevent the contents from moving during transit.
  2. Start the shipment on our website: Go to the “Parcel Shipment” page and follow the online process; it only takes 4 steps.
  3. Receive the label or QR code: Once everything is finished, you will receive by email or SMS a label to print or a QR code to present at the pickup point.
  4. Deliver your parcel: Go to the selected location to drop off your parcel. Be sure to keep the tracking number you receive by email, SMS or in the app.

The different statuses show where your shipment is throughout the process. You can check it in real time on our page or in the shipment tracking app. Here is a summary of what each status means:

  • Collected by InPost: The parcel is now in our hands and has started its journey within the network.
  • In transit: The parcel is moving between logistics centers. This may take more or less time depending on the distance and, if international, depending on the country.
  • Arrived at the local distribution center: Arrival at the center closest to the destination. From here, there is usually only one final trip left to the delivery point.
  • Available at the Locker or Ponto Pack: Good news, the parcel is already available at the InPost point. The recipient will receive a notification by SMS, email or app, containing the PIN or QR code for collection. For domestic shipments, you have 8 days to collect the parcel.
  • Final notification: “You have little time left to collect” is a reminder that the final deadline for collection is approaching. It is best not to wait until the last minute.
  • Return in progress: The parcel is being returned to the sender because the collection period has expired or delivery could not be completed.
  • Delivered: The delivery has been completed.

Our tracking tool makes it very easy to follow the progress of your parcel and any status changes.

  • In the tracking tool on our page.
  • In the InPost app. If you don't already use it, you can download it for Android and iOS.
  1. Look for the tracking code in the email, SMS or app notifications.
  2. Go to our tracking tool or the InPost app.
  3. In “Shipment Tracking”, enter:
  • The parcel number. Our parcel or tracking number has 8, 10 or 12 digits.
  • The recipient’s postal code
  1. Tap “Locate” and that’s it: you will be able to view the updated status of your parcel.

Delivery time depends on the destination, the service, and whether holidays or weekends are involved.

  1. Check the latest status and the date of the last movement.
  2. Delivery Times:
  • Domestic: Average delivery time of 3 business days from the moment the parcel enters the InPost network.
  • International: Average delivery time of 3 to 6 business days, depending on the destination.
  1. If several days have passed and the status still hasn't changed, fill out our form and describe the situation.

If you track the shipment and the parcel is not moving or has not been delivered within the expected time, assess the situation and take the necessary steps based on the available information.

Sometimes there are no changes for a while and then, all of a sudden, the tracking is updated. Before you worry:

  1. Check whether it is a weekend or a public holiday.
  2. Check the latest status. “Stopped” may be a normal part of the process.
  3. If it is taking longer than the average delivery time, fill out our form and describe the situation. Have the tracking number, the latest status and the date of the last movement at hand.
  4. Check whether the shipment is “Ready for Pickup”.
  5. Make sure the parcel has not already been received or picked up by an authorized person.
  6. If none of these alternatives apply, fill out our form with the parcel number and the information shown in the tracking tool.

If there is no movement for several days and there is no delivery confirmation, please report the issue using our form and provide:

  • The tracking number
  • The recipient’s information
  • The approximate shipping date
  • Shipment Tracking: Whenever you need to know the location of your parcel in real time.
  • Ponto Pack or Lockers Finder: To find the nearest InPost point and check opening hours.
  • Download our app: With the InPost app, you can manage your parcels very easily. Check tracking information, receive shipment status notifications, and access the information you need to pick up or send your parcel.
