Before sending a parcel, you should remember to measure and weigh the package. Although the process may seem like an unnecessary hassle, it is necessary to avoid rejected parcels or awkward moments trying to fit an oversized box into an InPost Locker.

In this guide, we will describe the accepted dimensions, the maximum weight for each type of location, how to measure your parcel correctly and some tips for preparing it properly before taking it to a Locker or Pack Point.

Before going to the Pack Point or Locker, make sure your parcel meets the allowed dimensions. This helps get your shipment off to a good start from the beginning.

If you have chosen a Pack Point, the parcel may weigh up to 30 kg. In addition, the sum of length + width + height must not exceed 150 cm, and the longest side must be 120 cm or less.

If you are using a Locker, the parcel may weigh up to 25 kg and the maximum dimensions are 64 x 38 x 39 cm.

1. Measuring tape or ruler to measure the length, width and height.
2. A sturdy box or wrapping in good condition.
3. Filling or protective material for the inside, if the contents are fragile.
4. Strong adhesive tape to seal the parcel securely.
5. QR code or shipping label, depending on the option chosen.

To be dropped off or collected at a Pack Point, the parcel may weigh up to 30 kg. In addition, the sum of length + width + height must not exceed 150 cm, and the longest side must be 120 cm or less.

This option is often the best for slightly larger parcels, as long as they are well packed and can be handled safely. If you want to send, for example, a large box, clothing, shoes, accessories, small appliances or personal items, this may be a good option, as long as it meets the maximum limits.

For drop-off or collection at a Locker, the parcel must, of course, fit in the Locker. The weight limit is 25 kg and the maximum dimensions are 64 x 38 x 39 cm.

Lockers are perfect for medium or small parcels: clothing, books, accessories, small electronic devices, gifts or routine online purchases. As always, if you are not sure whether it will fit, the best thing is to measure the parcel in advance.

This is a perfectly simple process with no secrets, but you should not forget to do it after the parcel is already packed and sealed: the final size may change if you add filling, reinforcements or an outer box.

1. Measure the length: usually, this is the longest side of the box.
2. Measure the width: the middle side.
3. Measure the height: the height of the package after sealing.
4. Add length + width + height, if you plan to use a Pack Point.
5. Weigh everything, including the box.
6. Compare the result with the limits of the chosen pickup point.

Most common everyday products and objects can be shipped with InPost, as long as they meet the service's size, weight and condition requirements. For example:

• Clothing, shoes and accessories.
• Books, documents or stationery.
• Small household items.
• Items sold on second-hand goods platforms.
• Gifts (well protected).
• Non-prohibited products that are properly packaged.

A well-packed parcel protects the contents and makes shipping easier throughout the journey. It is not about wasting time on details, but about ensuring that the parcel is not damaged during transport.

1. Use a sturdy box, without tears or moisture damage.
2. Fill any empty spaces inside the box to prevent the contents from moving.
3. Reinforce the corners and closures with adhesive tape.
4. Avoid deformed boxes or boxes that are too large for the product.
5. Remove old labels if you are reusing the packaging.
6. Do not join several boxes together with adhesive tape, as if they were one.

Common mistakes with measurements and weights:

1. Measuring the empty box instead of the final parcel (which can result in size differences).
2. Forgetting that the packaging also weighs something.
3. Choosing a Locker for a parcel that is only compatible with a Pack Point.
4. Reusing a damaged box.
5. Sending poorly packed products in a box that is too large.
6. Not confirming whether the contents are allowed before creating the shipment.

If the shipment exceeds the limits of the chosen service, it may not be accepted at the pickup point or may cause problems during transport.

That is why it is important to check the dimensions before creating the shipment and choose the appropriate type of point. If your parcel is too large for a Locker, consider using a Pack Point. If it also exceeds the Pack Point limits, you will need to find an alternative shipping method that accommodates the size in question.
