You placed your order in an online store, you received a text message or email with the tracking number, and now the process is marked by a series of alerts that may not always be completely clear.
In this article, we want to dispel any doubts about what each InPost shipment tracking status means, so you know at all times where your parcel is and what to expect.
What is InPost shipment tracking for?
This service lets you know what stage of the logistics process your parcel is at. From the moment the label is generated until it reaches the recipient, every step is recorded.
And what does this achieve?
With the tracking number and your postcode, you can check the location of a shipment on our page. In addition, you will receive email or text notifications alerting you to the most important changes.
- Peace of mind: knowing that the shipment is on its way;
- Control: you can better predict when it will arrive;
- Reaction: you are immediately alerted in case of any unexpected issue.
The most important InPost shipment tracking statuses
Let’s get into the details: these are the messages you may receive and what they mean:
Prepared by the sender
The sender has generated the label and is preparing the parcel. However, it has not yet been sent. If you see this message for a while, don’t worry: it is normal for it to take a few hours before moving to the next status.
Picked up by InPost
The parcel is already in our hands, after we have collected it, and is entering our logistics network. In short, everything is going well.
In transit
The parcel is moving between logistics centers. It may be traveling between cities or even crossing borders in the case of an international shipment. This status may last longer or shorter depending on the distance to be covered.
Arrival at the local distribution center
The parcel has arrived at the center closest to the destination. It is about to go into distribution or be placed in an InPost point.
Placed in the Locker or Ponto Pack
Good news! You can now pick up your order. If you chose a Locker or Ponto Pack, the parcel is waiting for you. You will receive a text message or email with an opening code. You have up to 8 days to collect it.
Final notice: pickup is almost due
You only have a few days left to collect the parcel. This alert serves as a reminder that time is passing and that, if you do not pick it up, the parcel will be returned to the sender.
Return in progress
The pickup period has passed or delivery was not possible. The parcel is on its way back to the origin point. If you see this status, contact us if you need to rearrange the delivery.
Delivered
It’s simple: the parcel has been delivered or collected. End of the journey!
Where can I see all these statuses?
You have several options to check our shipment tracking:
- InPost tracking page: just enter the tracking number and postcode.
- Email or text message: you will receive automatic alerts with the main changes.
- Customer service: if you have any problem, you can contact us through our page.
And if an unusual status appears or the process is stalled?
Sometimes, tracking may take a while to update, especially on weekends or public holidays. If you see that more than 48 hours have passed without any changes, or that a status appears that you cannot understand, we recommend:
- Checking whether you have received any additional message.
- Confirming that the tracking number is correct.
- Contacting our team to review the case.
Quick tips to better understand tracking:
In our experience, most questions or issues that may arise are solved with these simple tips:
- If the shipment seems “stuck”, give it a little time: it may be in transit on a long route.
- If you receive the “final notice” alert, go to the InPost point to pick it up as soon as possible.
- Keep the tracking number until you receive the parcel.
- If you cannot collect it in person, you can also share the code with someone you trust.
