How Vinted works

Apr 28, 2023

Vinted is a relatively recent platform in Portugal. A success across Europe, Vinted arrived in our country and in a short time has transformed the Portuguese sustainable fashion market.

If you still haven't sold or bought anything on the platform, now is the right time and we're going to tell you everything about how Vinted works.

If you want to start selling or if you already sell your things on the platform, this article is for you. Find out how Vinted works and learn, step by step, how to sell the items you no longer use.

Create an account and list items on Vinted

First of all, you have to create an account in the app. As a good practice, we recommend that you fill in all your details, profile photo, about you section, and also verify your account. This way, your potential customers will know that you are a real person.

All set! It's time to start listing your items. There are some ways to improve the visibility of your items, and they help people find your “store” more easily.

For example, if you spend a little time on the photos of each item, your potential customer will get a better impression of your items. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. We give you some tips:

  • Try to avoid posting photos with flash;
  • Post 5 photos of each item and from different angles;
  • Choose a neutral background for taking the photos;
  • Pay attention to the lighting in the space and the quality of the photos.

On the other hand, you should also pay attention to the descriptions of each item. A good, detailed and appealing description is a success! Try to give as much detail as possible about the items, for example, what they were used for, how long you've had them, etc. You can also categorize your items with Vinted tags, so your products gain more traction and it's easier for your potential customers to find you.

Sending Vinted orders

Did you manage to sell your first item? Congratulations! Now it's time to make the shipment. You have up to 5 business days after the purchase to send the item to the buyer. You should use the shipping method chosen by the customer, so that there are no tracking issues with the shipment.

In order for the buyer to receive the order in the best condition and to avoid damage, you should pack the item well. Make sure that the packaging you choose closes properly and is sturdy. You should make sure that the packaging you choose has enough space for the item to be well secured.

Also you can use bubble wrap, kraft paper or other material that ensures the protection of the item inside the packaging.

Another very important part of shipping is the shipping labels. They are what identify the order throughout the entire shipping process, from the moment you send it until it reaches the buyer. Make sure you stick all the labels on the package very well, according to the carrier chosen by your customer. You can also reinforce their protection with tape so they don't tear.

With your order sent, you can do the shipment tracking on Vinted. As soon as the buyer receives your order and confirms that everything is fine, the payment will become available in your Vinted balance.

Choose the nearest Pack Point

InPost is a major partner of Vinted. When buying and selling on Vinted, it often happens that you interact with people from other European countries. The solution? Choosing InPost as the shipping method and having more than 1,000 Pack Points in Portugal and 50,000 Pack Points across Europe!

How do you choose InPost? When you confirm your order on Vinted, in the shipping method section, you can choose the InPost – Pack Point shipping option as your order pickup method. In this section you will be able to choose, using your postal code, which Pack Point is most convenient for you. It makes sense not only for those who sell, but also for those who buy!
